So you want to want to start using drones and know you need a "licence"? (A2 CofC)
The HALO A2 Certificate of Competence course (A2 CofC Course) has been designed to give drone pilots the ability to operate their drone in the Open Category (A2 subcategory), as governed by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
The A2 CofC is our intermediate course, perfect if you are a hobbyist or starting your professional drone operations with a drone which has a maximum take-off mass less than 4kg.
This is a completely online course, therefore allowing you to achieve your certificate of competency at your own pace.
We strive to offer the most comprehensive drone training courses in the UK. This means that the learning material that you will be provided as part of this course will not only prepare you for the theoretical examination, but also give a superior understanding of what is required for a (less complex) drone operation.
What is an A2 CofC Course?
The A2 Certificate of Competency (A2CofC Course) is the new qualification that came into effect as part of the European UAS regulations in November 2020. By holding this qualification, you will be able to show that you have the technical and operational knowledge to safely operate your drone in the A2 subcategory of the open category.
As a result, you will be able to fly your drone to a minimum safe horizontal distance of 30m from uninvolved people, or up to 5m in ‘low speed mode’ with a C2 marked drone.
